Zahid has been licensed to practice law since 2011 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Shariah and Laws from Al-Azhar University of Egypt and a master’s degree in Islamic Judicial Science and Shariah Policy from Islamic University of Maldives.


Zahid began his professional career as a State Attorney at the Attorney General’s Office and later on served as its Principal Counsel. During his tenure with the Attorney General’s Office, Zahid represented the office in various government committees, and was in charge of the division responsible for litigation and dispute resolution in matters relating to local councils.


He also served as the Chief Magistrate of Dharavandhoo Magistrate Court for three years. Zahid’s experience as a government lawyer and judge over the years has enabled him to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Maldivian judicial system. He takes a personal interest in training legal professionals and works as a part-time lecturer for undergraduate law programmes conducted by Villa College and Maldives National University.


Zahid directs the firm’s conveyancing and civil litigation practice, and pro bono programme that consists of a variety of pro bono work, including providing legal advice and services free of charge to selected non-profit organizations.
